A Colorado man could be sentenced to years behind bars after a beef over broccoli, all because he shot someone for complaining that he’d tried to pass off a bag of the vegetable as some seriously good weed.
Sababu Colbert-Evans is looking at a 16-year stretch in prison. It all unfolded at a crowded shopping mall after one of his customers suffered buyer’s remorse when finding that the substance he’d bought could lower his cholesterol, but not get him high. Colbert-Evans refused to return the guy’s money and instead opened fire, spraying 11 bullets, one of which struck the victim in the torso.
He was convicted of attempted murder and of distributing an imitation controlled substance. We’re sure plenty of kids out there would like to have their folks punished for distributing broccoli as well.
