Following in dad’s footsteps is all well and good, but using his father’s police car to harass an ex-girlfriend got a junior Florida lawman in a pile of trouble over the weekend.
Palm Beach Sheriff’s cadet Christopher Combs, a 22 year old whose dad is a lieutenant in the same police force, was arrested and fired after using his father’s unmarked sheriff’s car to pull over a Ford Bronco containing his ex girlfriend and her new boyfriend. According to the arrest report, he had the vehicle’s lights flashing and used the car’s PA system to order the boyfriend out of the car and onto the ground. He told him to empty his pockets and apparently stole his wallet.
Combs was charged with impersonating an officer, armed robbery and false imprisonment. He denied the charges in court Sunday, but the judge at the hearing imposed house arrest and $120,000 bond.
