A Missouri man trying to get rid of some garden pests from his yard accidentally set fire to his neighbor’s house.

The man set fire to his lawn in an attempt to burn moles out of his yard. But the weather was a little dry and windy, and his controlled fire quickly went out of control and spread to his neighbor’s yard — and then to his neighbor’s house. A couple of passersby tried to douse the flames with buckets of water, but the fire was too quick and they had to knock on the neighbor’s door to get him to leave.

By the time the fire department put out the blaze, it had burned the house, three backyards and one front yard. The owner of the burned house says he’s just relieved that his family wasn’t hurt. There’s no word if the man who started the fire is facing any charges
