A Florida man earned both a commendation from cops and a trip to jail last week when he flagged down a patrol car to report that there was a drunk on the road and that he was the guilty party.
Eric Smallwood pulled up behind a patrol car parked on a public boat ramp in Vero Beach, got out of his own vehicle and approached the cruiser to ask the cop inside if he wanted to make an arrest. The confused officer asked Smallwood what he was talking about, and the 41 year old replied that he’d been driving around while totally wasted.
Still not totally convinced, the deputy asked Smallwood to perform some field sobriety tests and found that he failed every one of them while giggling and unable to remain on his feet. He registered more than three times the legal limit for blood alcohol and was booked on DUI charges.
