It’s one thing to shoplift a candy bar as a teenager, but a juvenile center employee in Texas has everyone beat. He’s confessed to stealing $1.2 million worth of fajitas.
Gilberto Escamilla apparently had been taking home truckloads of fajitas from his employer over nine years. But the scheme unraveled when he took a day off from his Cameron County Juvenile Justice Department job and an 800 pound shipment showed up. The driver called the center to let someone know he was there, but a woman said the kitchen there doesn’t serve fajitas. The deliveryman couldn’t believe that because he’d been dropping off large quantities of the Tex-Mex treat for years.
The next day, Escamilla’s supervisor confronted him, and he copped to the whole thing. Obviously, he wasn’t eating all those fajitas himself he was selling them. He’s been arrested and charged with first degree theft, a felony
