Police in Austin, Texas are trying to track down an ambulance thief who hopped into an emergency vehicle and took it for a joyride — with paramedics and a patient in the back.
Cops say medics were tending to an ill homeless person in the back of the ambulance when someone got behind the wheel and hijacked it. It’s not known if the jacker knew that there were people inside. He turned on the sirens and sped through traffic. The paramedics secured the patient and held on for their lives until the ambulance came to a stop and the thief fled the scene.
It’s the second time in a month that an ambulance has been stolen in Austin.
