A Washington State woman was arrested on animal abuse charges after a police officer found her car along with the 42 cats she was keeping inside.
58 year old Kathryn St. Clare had been wanted by police on animal abuse charges. An officer spotted her car, which matched the description of a car police were looking for, and confirmed it with a dispatcher. The dispatcher then informed the officer that there may be some cats inside. When St. Clare returned to the car, the officer spoke to her and he noticed multiple cats inside and the overwhelming smell of cat urine.
St. Clare told the officer there were 42 cats in the car, including one which died a couple of days earlier. Animal control was brought to the scene to remove all of the cats and transport them to a shelter to receive care. St. Clare was arrested and charged with 30 counts of animal cruelty.
